Important group actively researching in the bio-plastic industry approached us for a complete blending station, to be used as a pilot plant in one of their new venues.
The blender, a U-trough ribbon type unit, which incorporates large quantities of liquids and fibres, serves as a pilot plant and needs to be integrated as a complete skid within their plant. For this reason, we were asked to supply not only the blender, but the supporting frame, control panel and access stairs as well.
The unit supplied was a ribbon blender capable of handling up to 1150 liters of product, completely in 316SS, with temperature jacket (used both with liquids or steam) and insulation, a separate drive unit with flexible pin coupling, and a dedicated programmable control panel with inverter and PLC; being a ‘pilot’ unit, it needs to be operated manually: hence the completely customised lids and inlets/ports, the customised outlets fit for extraction pumps, the staircase built and placed alongside the mixer, made entirely of 304SS and the mixer supporting frame (this, too, made entirely from 304SS).
Since the request was for minimal residue inside the trough, the internal finishing was supplied mechanical mirror polishing (Pharma-standard).
