FERTILISER PRODUCTION FROM BIOGAS BY-PRODUCTS

The Challenge

For a fertiliser manufacturer utilising digestate and waste from a biogas plant, we engineered a ploughshare mixer capable of homogenising various types of residual sludges with differing moisture contents.

The machine was designed for heavy-duty use, guaranteeing excellent homogenisation of the final product within extremely rapid cycle times.

The MC² Solution

Mixer model: KB2PC01300DD batch mixer
Material of construction: all parts built in high thickness 304L stainless steel
Maximum working capacity: 1,425 litres
Solid 304L stainless steel rotor shaft, with air-purged seals
Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted toothed ploughs and scrapers made of 304L stainless steel, with welded face-hardening on tools’ entire surface
1 off. flanged rectangular inlet, custom-made
1 off. flanged round vent port
1 off. liquid addition port between the inspection doors
1 off. square discharge outlet without actuation, to be flanged to the conveyor below
2 off. frontal inspection doors with safety interlocks and gas-springs
3 off. high-speed side refiners with combined tools (blades/tulip) in 304L stainless steel with welded face-hardening, 5.5 kW e-motor (1450 rpm), fitted on mixer front (below the inspection doors) due to installation constraints
Direct drive, flanged to the mixer’s end support, complete with a 37 kW electric motor
