The Challenge

Within a major production plant for domestic pet litter, we were requested to supply a stainless steel ploughshare mixer with a 2,500-litre batch working capacity.

The unit must heat the materials, comply with ATEX Zone 22 installation requirements, and operate via inverter control.

Material of construction: all parts built in high thickness 304L stainless steel
Maximum working capacity: 2,590 litres
Solid 304L stainless steel rotor shaft, with air-purged seals
Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted blades and scrapers made of 304L stainless steel
1 off. flanged round inlet
1 off. flanged round vent port
1 off. round, flanged discharge outlet, with flush-fit trapdoor with electropneumatic actuation
2 off. inspection doors with interlocks
Finishing of all parts in contact with product: glass-bead blasting
In-line, separate drive, with dual flexible pin coupling, complete with a 55 kW electric motor
1 off pneumatic cabinet for the distribution of compressed air to all devices and appliances
1 off. 304L stainless steel junction box
Temperature jacket used to heat the product with diathermal oil, complete with PT100 temperature probe and complete drum insulation
All electric components and devices (motor, interlocks, solenoids and coils) certified for use in ATEX Zone 22
