INTENSIVE PRODUCTION OF DRYMIX MORTARS AND RENDERS

KB4PT05000ILD

The Challenge

For a major international manufacturer of drymix building products—including adhesives, grouts, mortars, renders, and screeds—we were commissioned to engineer a 5,000-litre working capacity (7,000-litre total capacity) industrial ploughshare mixer featuring a full-length hydraulic discharge door.

Tasked with processing large volumes of materials continuously, including highly abrasive ingredients such as coarse sands and aggregates, the unit required extreme robustness, excellent performance, and high operational flexibility.

The MC² Solution

  • Mixer model: KB4PT05000ILD batch mixer
  • Material of construction: extra high-thickness HB400 wear-resistant steel
  • Maximum working capacity: 5,070 litres
  • Solid mild steel rotor shaft, with grease-purged seals
  • Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted ploughs and scrapers made of HB500 wear-resistant steel with face-hardening on tips
  • 6 off. flanged inlets, custom-built
  • 1 off. flanged round vent port
  • 1 off. 60° total bomb-door discharge, flush-fit, with hydraulic cylinders and power unit
  • 2 off. inspection doors with interlocks
  • 4 off. side refiners with HB400 tulip-type tools with total face-hardening, 7.5 kW (1450 rpm) electric motors
  • 1 off. pneumatic sampling device
  • 1 off. pneumatic panel for the distribution of compressed air to all air-driven appliances
  • Separate drive, in line, with flexible pin coupling and fluid coupling, complete with a 132 kW electric motor.

Key Benefits

  • Outstanding homogenisation of all ingredients, top-quality finished products
  • Ultra-short cycle times, also thanks to the 60° bomb-door discharging system
  • Guaranteed reliability and repeatability of lots
  • High resistance to severe abrasion
  • Excellent return on investment and payback time
  • Maximum flexibility: being a retrofit, the unit was built to perfectly fit above an existing catch-hopper that the customer did not want to replace and connect with all other existing parts of the production plant
