The Challenge

An overseas client looking to install a system to process large volumes of agri-food waste commissioned us to supply a continuous mixer capable of handling a throughput of 20 m³/h.

The mixer receives highly non-homogenous, highly abrasive materials with a high moisture content. Given the acidic nature of the ingredients—consisting of organic vegetable matter in advanced stages of decomposition—the unit must be engineered to resist oxidation and chemical attack over time.

Finally, as part of the procedure, process liquids are also incorporated directly into the blend during the continuous mixing cycle.

The MC² Solution

  • Mixer model: KC2PV01800DD continuous mixer
  • Material of construction: all parts built in high thickness 304L stainless steel, with weir plate
  • 304L stainless steel rotor shaft, with air-purged seals
  • Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted toothed ploughs and scrapers made 304L stainless steel with welded face hardening on the entire surface
