The Challenge

We were contacted by a prestigious overseas company to manufacture a mixer for processing potato waste. The purpose of the requested 'back-mixer' is to homogenise 20 m³/h of both dry and damp/wet products, reducing the overall moisture content of the blended material before it is transferred to the dryer. The process operates on a continuous basis.

The unit, configured as a continuous mixer, strictly required a large custom-positioned rectangular inlet built to drawing, a rectangular discharge outlet, and two inspection doors. Three side refiners and a pneumatic sampling port complete the system's configuration.

The MC² Solution

  • Mixer model: KC2PV03000ILD continuous mixer
  • Material of construction: all parts built in high thickness 304L stainless steel, with weir plate
  • 304L stainless steel rotor shaft, with air-purged seals
  • Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted ploughs and scrapers made of 304L stainless steel
  • 1 off. flanged rectangular inlet, custom made
  • 1 off. flanged round vent port
  • 1 off. flanged rectangular outlet, custom made
  • 2 off. inspection doors with interlocks
  • 3 off. side refiners in 304L stainless steel with blade-type tools, 5.5 kW (1450 rpm) electric motors
  • 1 off. pneumatic sampling device
  • Separate in-line drive, with dual flexible pin coupling (for VFD control), complete with a 45 kW electric motor
  • Connecting frame for drive/mixing drum
