PASTE BACKFILL MIXER FOR THE MINING INDUSTRY

KCF-8-DH

The Challenge

For a major overseas client operating in the mining sector, we were commissioned to supply a continuous ploughshare mixing station capable of handling a throughput of 200 tonnes per hour.

The solution must receive highly non-homogenous, highly abrasive materials with a high moisture content. These residual soils and sludges are blended with cement powders and large volumes of water to form a paste used to backfill mining excavations.

The configuration includes an integrated, safety-compliant walkway platform built over the top of the mixing drum, giving operators secure access to the custom-positioned rectangular inlet built to drawing and the conveyor connection chute.

Furthermore, a dual discharge outlet equipped with a diverter valve is required to feed multiple discharge points, alongside three inspection doors. The system must also feature a precision torquemeter integrated into the drive train.

The MC² Solution

  • Mixer model: KC4PV08000ILD continuous mixer in KCF-8-DH configuration
  • Material of construction: all parts built in high thickness mild steel, with adjustable weir plate
  • Drum internal liner in HB400 wear-resistant steel bolted panels, individually replaceable, on 360° of the drum’s surface
  • Mild steel rotor shaft, with water-purged seals
  • Mixing tools: adjustable, bolted ploughs and scrapers made of mild steel with welded face-hardening on the entire surface
  • 1 off. flanged rectangular inlet, custom made
  • 1 off. flanged round port, tangential, for water infeed, custom made
  • 1 off. flanged round frontal outlet, custom made
  • 1 off. square outlet, with flush-fit trap door and electropneumatic actuation for drum washdown water discharge
  • 3 off. inspection doors with interlocks
  • 1 off. removable platform, complete with railings, access gate, access ladder and kickplates bolted to the top of the mixing drum
  • Separate parallel in-line drive, with dual flexible pin coupling (for VFD or soft start control), complete with a 250 kW Mining Standard electric motor and additional torquemeter installed between gearbox/drum flexible coupling

Key Benefits

  • Required capacity guaranteed
  • Excellent and consistent homogenisation of all ingredients to form a paste with the ideal consistence for the mining stopes
  • Extra heavy-duty unit, high resistance to abrasion thanks to the drum liner and face-hardening of tools – suitable for 24/7 duty
  • Outstanding return on investment
