The Challenge
We were approached by an important OEM with a request for a ‘special’ ribbon blender to gently mix calcium carbonate in a batch process to produce plastics.
Since the blender needed to be fitted into an existing plant with other similar blenders, it was imperative that it should be made from a cylindrical drum (and not a typical U-trough). It had to be made ‘to measure’ (to fit into a limited existing space), required a large inlet hopper (along the entire mixer length), a large inspection door with ATEX-rated door lock. No opening/closing mechanism for the outlet (the material is removed by a screw conveyor). The OEM assembled the drive unit himself (the unit was requested bare shaft)
