The Challenge

A leading manufacturer of chemical additives for wineries and the broader winemaking industry approached us to supply two stainless steel ribbon blenders for integration into their primary production line.

These virtually identical machines need to handle batches of up to 2750 litres while being engineered for quick, frequent sanitisation to guarantee consistent, high-quality end products.

The MC² Solution

  • Mixer model: RB2RC01700DCD batch ribbon blender
  • Maximum working capacity: 3,000 litres
  • Material of construction: 304L stainless steel U-trough and end plates
  • 304L stainless steel rotor shaft, with air-purged seals
  • End supports completely made of 304L stainless steel
  • Mixing tools: 4 concentric, counter-rotating ribbon flights in 304L stainless steel
  • 1 off. bolted lid
  • 1 off. lateral hinged lid with safety grid, complete with 1 off. round flanged inlet and 1 off. round flanged vent port
  • 1 off. round flanged vent port
  • 2 off. flanged round discharge outlets, with flush-fit trapdoors and independent electropneumatic actuation
  • 4 off. frontal side-hinged inspection doors, horizontal opening, with interlocks (2 on each side of U-trough)
  • 6 off. threaded ports for mixing trough cleaning system
  • Finishing of parts in contact with the product: satin polishing to a Ra ≤0.8 μm
  • Separate drive with flexible pin coupling, in right-angle layout, 18.5 kW electric motor
  • 1 off. electric junction box in 304L stainless steel
  • 1 off. control panel, with PLC, main motor inverter, colour touchscreen, software to control all operations (main shaft, discharge doors) with programmable recipes and mixing times/offsets, integration with all safety devices, alarms, emergencies, in line with Industry 4.0 requirements
