We were approached by an important OEM with a request for a ‘special’ ribbon blender to gently mix calcium carbonate in a batch process for the production of plastics.
Since the blender needed to be fitted into an existing plant with other similar blenders, it was imperative that it should be made from a cylindrical drum (and not a typical U-trough). It had to be made ‘to measure’ (in order to fit into a limited existing space), required a large inlet hopper (along the entire mixer length), a large inspection door with ATEX-rated door lock. No opening/closing mechanism for the outlet (the material is removed by a screw conveyor). The OEM assembled the drive unit himself (the unit was requested bare shaft)
Maximum capacity: 2,250 litres of product
Material of construction: painted mild steel
SKF end bearings, stuffing and air-purged seals on main shaft
Double-flight shaft, counter-rotating, in painted mild steel
Large loading hopper
Large inspection door with gas spring assisted opening and closing mechanism
ATEX-rated door lock
Bare shaft (ready for direct drive, with torque arm)
