Application
For a new mixing plant that produces sophisticated and top-quality baking powders we were asked to supply a stainless steel batch ploughshare mixer capable of handling up to 1300 litres per batch.
The unit needed round inlets and a vent port, side refiners to maximise particle distribution of micro-ingredients and additives (in powder and liquid form) and liquid incorporation. The mixer needed to be b built in conformity with the most stringent ATEX requirements (zone 2o internal and 22 external).
Therefore, the choice fell on our model KBC1300, with the following configuration:
- Mixing drum and end plates in 316SS
- Solid main shaft in 316SS
- Mixing tools: ploughs and scrapers in 316SS welded to the shaft
- 2 off. round, flanged inlets
- 1 off. round, flanged vent port
- 1 off. round, flanged outlet, with trap-door perfectly flush with drum, electro-pneumatic actuation for ATEX 22
- 2 off. frontal inspection doors, with ATEX 22 door locks
- 3 off. injection wands in 316SS, complete with spray nozzle, for liquid additives
- 3 side refiners with blade tools in 316SS
- internal surface treatment of all parts in contact with product, with roughness ≤ 0.8µ
- 1 separate bevel drive, with flexible pin coupling, with 37 kW electric motor
- the mixer is built to meet the ATEX requirements II 1/3 D (20 internal, 22 external), certified by an accredited third-party body
