Paste mixer for the mining industry

For an important overseas customer operating int the mining industry we were requested to supply a ploughshare continuous mixer, capable of handling 235 T/h of materials. The mixer receives inhomogeneous materials, damp and highly abrasive. They are mixed with fine cement powder and water, to form a paste used to fill and consolidate the mining grounds after the extraction of the precious minerals.

The unit needed to be equipped with a large, rectangular, custom-built inlet, a custom-built round outlet and three inspection doors for full access to all parts of the mixing drum. It also required an extra tangential inlet to incorporate the water in the mix. Since it needs to handle very abrasive materials, various solutions to withstand high abrasion were mandatory.

Given these requirements, we provided our model KC4PV10000ILD, in the following configuration:

• mixing drum and end plates in high-thickness mild steel, with wear-resistant liner in bolted panels, made of wear-resistant steel HB450 covering the entire drum circumference (360°);
• solid main shaft with Belzona wear-resistant coating on the first 2 metres (and all included tool pockets) directly under the inlet;
• special stuffing and water-purged main shaft seals;
• 1 off. rectangular custom-built inlet, complete with flange, in mild steel;
• 1 off. tangential round inlet, for water intake, in mild steel;
• 1 off. round discharge, complete with flange and replaceable safety grate, in mild steel;
• 1 off. additional electro-pneumatic discharge, used for wash-down purposes;
• 3 off. inspection doors, top-to-bottom opening, complete with safety door locks;
• 1 off. flange for sampling device in mild steel;
• 1 off. separate in-line drive, with supporting frame, with bevel gearbox, double flexible pin coupling;(fit for use with an inverter) and special mining standard 200 kW electric motor;
• external extra high thickness paint cycle for all parts of the mixer.
